Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia protested to Ambassador of Denmark in connection with Misane case


Today, on 10 February, the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Andra Pelche, summoned Ambassador Fleming Stand of Denmark and handed him a protest against Copenhagen's decision to deport Latvian citizen Christina Misana to South Africa. This is written by the Nra.lv portal. We remind that Christina Misane was detained and placed under arrest in Denmark on charges of kidnapping children by her former husband a South African citizen. By decision of the Danish court, Misane is due to be extradited on 12 February. In South Africa, a Latvian citizen faces 15 years 'imprisonment. Danish officials refuse to interfere with their country's courts and law enforcement agencies, despite numerous requests from the Latvian side.
