USA to allocate $2 million to study the countries of the former USSR

American experts will study the countries of Eastern Europe and the independent states of the former USSR in more depth. For this purpose, the U.S. Department of State intends to allocate $2 million. These funds will be used for grants within the framework of the Program for Research of Eastern Europe and Independent States of the former Soviet Union. As highlighted in the document cited by RT, only American higher education institutions and non-governmental organizations will be able to qualify for the grant. It is noted that the initiative will contribute to the establishment of international cooperation, as well as to the improvement of the level of knowledge of American specialists on the issue of knowledge of the most important languages of the countries of Eastern Europe and independent States of the former Soviet Union. Among such states Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Czech Republic, Georgia, Slovakia, Poland, Belarus, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan. The program will be supervised by the Bureau of Intelligence and Research of the Foreign Ministry of the United States. According to the news agency, in September 2019 it became known that the U.S. Department of State intends to train Russian journalists in its own way, for which purpose it announced a grant contest worth about 10 million rubles ($150,000). The summer school for journalists is organized by one of the American non-profit organizations and the university, which will win the competition. During the classes, teachers from the United States will tell them about the basics of Western journalism.
