Number of households in South Korea receiving financial assistance named

On 4 May, South Korea began providing one-time financial assistance to populations facing difficulties due to the coronavirus pandemic. This is reported by KBS with reference to representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Security of the country. As of 18:00 on May 4, 2,834,073 households had received total assistance of 1.2 trillion won (~ $981 million). We remind that first of all households that previously received a social, basic or disability pension receive benefits. It is known that about 30,000 households belonging to this group were unable to receive financial assistance due to errors in documents, including bank account numbers. The Ministry noted that they will double-check the data provided by citizens and transfer funds to households no later than May 8. Payments to other households will begin on 11 May.
