South Korea introduced a ban on drinking alcoholic beverages on beaches

In order to prevent the spread of coronavirus in South Korea, alcohol drinking and eating on the territory of large beaches will be banned. It is reported by KBS with reference to representatives of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries. According to them, the ban will be valid from 18:00 to 19:00, as well as from 9:00 to 10:00 local time. It is known that these measures will be valid on the territory of 21 beaches, the number of visitors to each of which last year exceeded 300 thousand people. These include Heunde Beach in Busan and Gyeongpho Beach in Gangneung. It is noted that local authorities will monitor the implementation of the ban. In case of violation of the ban, a fine of up to 3 million won (~ $2.5 thousand) will be imposed. According to the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, by July 6, 76 beaches opened across the country, but the number of visitors decreased by 38%, to 2.1 million people.
